![]() God does things when we live our faith out in practical ways. It’s easy to watch the evening news, see a world falling apart and then look to heaven and say, “God, why don’t YOU do something?” We hear of the poverty, modern day slavery and the lonely and forgotten hoping that someone—anyone—will come by with a smile and speak life to them. You pray, “God, YOU have to do something. My heart hurts. This world makes me angry. God, why don’t YOU do something?!” And he gently answers, “I did. I created you.” There’s a song by Matthew West called “Do Something” that asks these same questions and the answer that comes back is pretty simple. “If not us, then who? If not me and you? Right now, it’s time for us to do something. If not now, then when will we see an end to all this pain? It’s not enough to do nothing. It’s time for us to do something.” If those words resonate with you, why not join us and WAY-FM for their “Live (service) Out” day on June 20, 2014. We can be the hands and feet of Jesus at Springs Village Care Center by visiting with residents, smiling, reading, helping with arts and crafts projects and pitching in with any other projects that might need to be done around the nursing home. Call our office at 719-634-5767 or email volunteer@crossroadsusa.org to request more information about how you can get involved in this special day of serving others. We can’t continue to live like angels of apathy telling ourselves that someone else will do something. Don’t just be a flame, be a fire that causes others to stand up and say, “I’m going to do something!” “We are the salt of the earth. We are a city on a hill. We’re never going to change the world by standing still.” Do something! Contact us today and join us on June 20 and “Live (service) out!!” “Do Something” by Matthew West http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0I2csO7_pOI
