Stewardship Challenge Week 14: Godly Women Part 2

Godly Women- Part 2
“Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.”
2 Peter 3:4

Since May is Mother’s Day, for the next few weeks I would like to look at Godly women and their role in the family as well as the Body of Christ.

A Godly woman is not perfect, rather she is learning to open up and trust her Savior. The measuring stick of your godliness isn’t based on a comparison to other women, but on your own personal commitment to Jesus Christ. So, what are the characteristics of a godly woman? Let’s look at a few more this week~~
  • Serve the Lord: Set your mind on eternal things, serve the Lord and others. She opens her mouth in wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue. Proverbs 31:8-9
  • Have an intimate familiarity with the Word: “Man shall not live on bread alone, but every word that comes from the mouth of God.”  Matthew 4:4
  • Resonate a calm and quiet spirit: As a godly woman you have the inner peace of the Holy Spirit to comfort, guide and teach you when everything seems out of control. Scripture above
  • Be grounded in courage and strength: You will refuse to let fear invade your thoughts or feelings by constantly reminding yourself of God’s promises to never leave you. Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9
  •
Do you have other godly women in your life?  Learn to cultivate a relationship with other godly women. Have at least one accountability woman in your life, someone you trust that you can share your feeling with and who loves you enough to be honest with you.  Someone you can call at a moment’s notice to pray with you. I pray that you will always know how much God loves you and the faith that He has in your ability to walk in all that He has for you.

 Godly Women- Part 1

“Charm is deceitful and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised.”
Proverbs 31:30

Since May is Mother’s Day, for the next few weeks I would like to look at Godly women and their role in the family as well as the Body of Christ.

A Godly woman is not perfect, rather she is learning to open up and trust her Savior. The measuring stick of your godliness isn’t based on a comparison to other women, but on your own personal commitment to Jesus Christ. So, what are the characteristics of a godly woman? Let’s look at a few:
  • Seek God first: Reject the idea that anything or anyone can satisfy you except the Lord. Matthew 6:33-34
  • Speak Faithfully: Love others with Godly wisdom, boldness and kindness       as a faithful completer of others. Proverbs 31:26
  • Show true Beauty: Bodies deteriorate; looks can change, so invest into that which lasts. 1Timothy 2:9-10
  • Stay Humble: Be constantly aware of pride and selfishness. Don’t think less of yourself but think of yourself less. Philippians 2:3-5
  •
Being a wife and mother is not always easy but so very rewarding.  I have six children, 15 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter. I enjoyed being a parent, that’s not to say there weren’t struggles but hopefully they can help make the relationships stronger. Being a grandparent is a very special relationship and I love it.  Being a great-grandparent also bring with it a special love.  I salute ALL of the mothers, especially those who are raising children in our current culture. May God give you grace and a special blessing in all that you do for your husband and children.

Stewardship Challenge-2016: Leadership-Part 5

Leadership-Part 5

“Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.”
2 Corinthians 3:17

J.W. McLean and William Weitzel in their book, Leadership: Magic, Myth or Method, define leadership as:
-person
-Involved in a process
-Of influencing and developing a group of people
-In order to accomplish a purpose
-By means of supernatural power

The last thing we would like to look at today is “By means of supernatural power”. Most important one for Christian leaders is the fact that the leadership process is supernaturally empowered. We cannot perform our leadership responsibilities in our own strength, power or wisdom. Leadership means that we know and follow the Leader and rely fully on His power to guide and direct our every step. Servant leadership is impossible without a life fully submitted to the love and lordship of Christ. It would be folly for us to proceed without the leadership of our Heavenly Father and the guiding of the Holy Spirit. But sometimes we wonder how we get there and stay there.

This equation is really quite practical. His presence comes in increasing measure in our worship. Beyond the songs, and even contemporary worship culture, are rich discoveries awaiting the tenderhearted. At times this happens with unexplainable external manifestations of His presence. Other times it’s just an overwhelming awareness that He is in the room.

For those tempted to remind me that He is always with us, I understand and believe that. There are just times when the increased manifestation of presence upon us is beyond reassure. We just need things we don’t understand, can’t control and can’t explain. Such is the life of following Jesus. As we as Christian leaders step out in what God calls us to, we MUST rely on the Holy Spirit to take us to that place of surrender in knowing that we serve by means of Supernatural Power!!!
