![]() 1 Peter 5:2 – “Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, watching over them—not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be;” Advent is the time we live in between what is—and what is to come. As we prepare to welcome the Savior, it is good to stop and think about what your gifting and holiday ministry-values are. Does Christmas bring out the best in you? Or do you become a deer-in-the-headlights racing to navigate the highway of materialism? When I stop and reflect on what gifts my life has to offer, I’m reminded of the importance of gifting from my spirit, giving of my scarcity not of my surplus. This reflection shifts my thinking from holiday-hectic to calm gratitude and thankfulness. It is refreshing to know that being a person pleasing to the Lord often means simply sharing Jesus with those who need someone to comfort and pray with them. I can do that. The holidays can be especially difficult for some and it is vital to remember the sick, the lonely, the bereaved, and the elderly. We can all give of our spirit, our warmth, our smile, our presence and prayer-care for others. The people you willingly minister to in Jesus’ name are your flock. May your inner journey this Advent and Christmas be one of grace and growth in service to those in need of the living love of Jesus Christ whose birth we prepare to celebrate. Be rooted in the Christ of Christmas, alive in your ministry, and sustained in prayer, every day and every season of the coming year. -Gael Stuart Phaneuf How are YOU ministering this Christmas season? We’d love to hear from you. Please leave a comment.
