Leadership-Part 2
“I can do nothing on my own initiative.  As I hear, I judge; and my judgement is just, because I do not seek my own will, but the will of Him who sent me.”
John 5:30
J.W. McLean and William Weitzel in their book, Leadership: Magic, Myth or Method, define leadership as:

  • person
  • Involved in a process
  • Of influencing and developing a group of people
  • In order to accomplish a purpose
  • By means of supernatural power.

This week we will look at Leadership as it is involved in a process. Leadership is involved in a process of growth and development.  Leadership is distinct from management. We manage things, we lead people. Learning to lead people sometimes takes a lifetime in developing the process. Some are born with the gift of leadership but still need to learn to walk in love with those they serve; many times that is in itself a process.  We learn through the good times as well as the hard times.

When we know that we are “called” by God to be a leader in the Body of Christ, then we know that God’s anointing will be sufficient for success. Being a “Leader” is not confined to a church or a ministry.  The Lord needs Leaders in every area of life. The Lord is calling man and women who are competent in their call from the Lord.  From Proverbs 22:29, we find a compelling argument for competence as a leader. “Do you see a man skilled in his work?  He will stand before kings; He will not stand before obscure men.”

Leadership is about managing God’s blessings God’s way for God’s glory.
