James Project

Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world. -James 1:27

The Need:

The population is growing for this age group which means that the needs are increasing as well. Over 85% of the residents residing in the nursing homes do not receive regular visitors. 50% of those residents do not have any living relative. What was once called the Greatest Generation is now called the Forgotten Generation! Many of the residents feel forgotten by family, the church and by God… it is a privilege and honor for the Body of Christ to show them that God has not forgotten them. The residents receive few moments each day of a loving touch. In church last week, a lady began to cry simply because I gave her a hug and told her she was loved. She said, “I really needed that”.

How it works:

Crossroads Ministries will provide the resources and training to establish an elder care ministry in your church. We will provide volunteer training, connect your church with a care center, help your church with resources for outreach events and provide ongoing communication and support to help your church "adopt" a care center to minsiter to throughout the year.

Getting Started:

Is it time for you and your organization to begin ministering to this neglected group in our society? Contact us now to begin the process to provide the assistance and compassion that the elderly in your community need and deserve.

• Make a decision for your church to get involved with the elderly in your community.
• Select a director or team leader from your church.
• Crossroads will train that person and supply all the resources for the director to begin ministering to the elderly.

• Crossroads will connect your director with a care center to "adopt" and will pave the way for your church to begin elder care ministry to the elderly in care centers.
